Squirrels Take Up Sports and Nature Photography

Their Favorite Subject? Themselves, of Course. Understandably–They are Pretty Darned Cute!
Vadim Trunov is a talented, self-taught, nature photographer who has lots of wildlife adventures. For this photo shoot, the squirrels were in full form. They not only posed and happily let him shoot away while they played, they took over the camera at one point.
While they seemed quite happy to take pictures of one another, they did not limit their subjects to just squirrels as evidenced by this exchange between a squirrel and a blue tit.
The squirrels practically fly as they play with pinecones. What a catch!
They also make like Michael Jordan with a great jump shot.
Volleyball without a net–as good as Gabrielle Reece.
Then there are the snow ball fights and snowmen they made–okay with a little help from Trunov. All in all, it is a fun and funny collection of photographs.
Life in the wild isn’t all about play though. These shots were captured in winter. The squirrels were hungry. Rather than playing games, they were fighting over food. Food that Trunov gladly provided in order to capture these images.
That doesn’t explain the snowball fights however.
Trunov has taken many photos with these fun loving squirrels. Check out his portfolio and see them playing chess and singing Karaoke, of all things. You can also catch a glimpse of some of his other nature photographs which range from broad scenic shots to macro shots of butterflies and bugs. Often breath taking and magical, and sometimes whimsical, his photographs tell stories and open our eyes to a world we would love to further explore.
