Photo Editing Cheating or Common Practice?
There are purists who would insist that you use every photograph just as you shot it. If it isn’t good enough to use, then you should pitch it. Their view is that we can, and should, strive to achieve the perfect shot and that editing shots is some sort of cheating.
The truth is far different.
Photographers from the very beginning have been manipulating their shots. Of course in the past it was done in the darkroom with chemicals, light, and a lot of patience.
Now dodging and burning have come out of the darkroom.
