International Landscape Photographer of the Year Awards

These Landscape Photographs will Blow You Away!
Yes, we know these awards were made in 2015…but they are so fantastic your time is well spent oohing and ahhing over them again–if for no other reason than to get excited for the 2016 awards!
The esteemed judges of the 2015 International Landscape Photographer of the Year competition had the agony and ecstasy of reviewing more than 2,600 entries. 481 photographers submitted work. Amateurs as well as professionals, from all corners of the globe. In the end, they were whittled down to 101 and compiled into a book.
The coveted International Landscape Photographer of the Year award was bestowed upon Luke Austin of Perth, Australia, for his portfolio of 4 mystical images–two of which we show above. Moody and mystical, they feel like illustrations as much as documentation of actual landscapes.
The award for International Landscape Photograph of the Year was won by Luke Tscharke for his image below. We noted that both Lukes hail from Australia. If it were not for the fact that their photographs are so excellent one might wonder if in order to win you might need to change your name and move down under!
All kidding aside, congratulations to both photogs for their work and the well deserved recognition.
We also felt it important to point out that “landscapes” in this setting included oceanscapes. In fact, a series by Warren Keelan garnered him 3rd place in the photographer category.
Additionally, there were 5 special awards given.
Mist & Fog, won by Gunar Streu
Long Exposure, won by Grant Galbraith
Aerial, won by Will Dielenberg
Snow & Ice, won by Jon Martin
Abstract, won by Thierry Bornier
At this writing, the International Landscape Photographer website is being redone. You can learn more about the organization and keep up with them on their Facebook page.
